ENBES workshop 2017 practical information
The ENBES workshop takes place at the University of Southampton's Highfield Campus, in the Maths Student Centre, at the bottom of Building 56. You can find it on this map of the Highfield Campus (downloads a pdf). Building 56 is just above where the number appears on the map (which is at the end of building 2!).
Participants are expected to bring their own paper copies of meeting documents. All documents will be uploaded on the meeting website as soon as they become available.
Travelling to the University of Southampton
Participants are requested to make their own travel and hotel reservations.
Southampton has an airport, and if there are direct flights from your location, this is very easy, with only a 20-minute bus ride to the University. If you fly to Gatwick there are direct trains every hour to Southampton Central (journey time around 2 hours), and if you fly to Heathrow then you can get a Railair bus link to Woking, and a train from Woking to Southampton Central or Southampton Airport Parkway. The latter is easier for getting direct to the university – it is next to the airport and there is a direct bus link. There are also direct coach services between Heathrow and the University – see http://www.nationalexpress.com/home.aspx (search for "University of Southampton").
Other London airports are further from Southampton (some quite far, so be wary), and will involve a trip to central London, traveling on the Underground, and taking a train to Southampton. Most train services run from London Waterloo.
You can come by Eurostar to London, but will then need to cross London by the Underground and take a train to Southampton. Most train services run from London Waterloo.
Unilink buses run many local routes in Southampton, but the key ones are the
U1A which runs from the centre (Southampton Central railway station and shopping areas) via the University to the airport and Southampton Airport Parkway station; and the
U1C which runs from the airport via the University to the centre.
Especially when traveling from the University, make sure you get on the right one! A single ticket costs £2, and a day return £3-50.
