This stage consists of which groups to communicate with at various stages of the project.

The types of communication varies between:

  • Consultation: the project requires input from these groups
  • Information: these groups require input from the status or material from the project
  • Presentation: these groups require capacity building and information about the project

To plan which groups to consider, check all of the stakeholders mentioned in the earlier "Identify stakeholders" stage.  Additional group types to consider are:

  • SDMX bodies such as the statistical and technical working groups, the secretariat, the sponsors, and conferences
  • Methodological experts such as classification experts
  • Statistical domain experts, who need to be consulted to build the model
  • Organisational constituencies who may, at least, want a say in the compatibility and capabilities of how the eventual exchange is implemented
  • Technical specialists, in order to start an analysis of the infrastructure and systems.

Special attention should be made to the early preparation and information about the pilot phases, so that the pilots consist of a decent amount of participants, and that they have had time to prepare.

During the design of the SDMX artefacts it is vital to get input from expert bodies (such as the SDMX Statistical Working Group - SWG), so an early indication to those groups will help reserve their time.
