Abstract:

The paper identifies the ICT areas where gender disparities are encountered, socio-economic factors that determine the respective differences, causes that underlie the problems in the sector, opportunities as untapped potential and the limitations as developmental impediments. It covers 6 areas: ICT education, employment in the ICT sector, working conditions in the ICT sector, research and development in the field of ICT, entrepreneurship and leadership in the ICT sector, access and use of ICT by the population.

The aim of this report was to emphasize from the available data both: the evolution during the last four years and the situation from the perspective of gender equality in ICT sector. And finally to inform the public, based on evidence / data, about the participation and role of women and men in the ICT sector.
