In current work on LIM, the following Value Types for attributes are being recommended: Boolean, Controlled Vocabulary, Date, DateTime, MultilingualText (derived from Text), Number, String, Text.

It would be an advantage for GSIM implementers, if these recommendations were also considered for GSIM.

Currently, GSIM has the following:

  • Text/text/Textual (recommend change to Text)
  • Boolean
  • Binary (recommend change to Boolean)
  • Date
  • Numeric/number (recommend change to Number)
  • String
  • Extensible redefined list (recommend change to Controlled Vocabulary)
  • Met/Unmet (recommend change to Controlled Vocabulary)
  • Identifier/ID - This is not a Value Type. It is an attribute.
  • Version Designator (recommend change to String)
  • Entity Designator (recommend change to Text)
  • DateRange (only used for Population, recommend change to Date)

  • No labels

Meeting 17 October: the issue was that the Value Types of attributes in GSIM are sometimes inconsistent (“Text”, “text”, “Textual”; “number”, “Numeric”) and sometimes not Value Type (e.g. “Identifier/ID” is an attribute, not Value Type). The Team agreed to accept the recommended set of Value Types from the LIM group (Boolean, Controlled Vocabulary, Date, DateTime, MultilingualText (derived from Text), Number, String, Text).

Administrative Details. Attribute: url Value Type: URL -> not on list CHECK

  3. For Identifier/ID you could use Value Type GUID.

We are recommending this for our own implementation of GSIM/LIM.
