The Generic Statistical Business Process Model (GSBPM) and the Generic Statistical Information Model (GSIM) are important standards used by many statistical organisations. Every five years, the Modernstats standards are reviewed to ensure that they maintain their relevance.

We are seeking feedback from statistical organisations on possible improvements to GSBPM and GSIM to inform the review process. All feedback on the GSBPM and GSIM are welcome. For example, you might provide comments to:

  • suggest topics that should be covered by GSBPM and GSIM that are either not included or need more detail
  • improve the descriptions in GSBPM and GSIM,
  • propose new/changed subprocesses for GSBPM,
  • recommend changes to the names of the phases in GSBPM
  • provide additional information objects to be included in GSIM
  • contribute changes to the modelling of GSIM

In addition to specific feedback on GSBPM and GSIM, the review team is also interested in comments about how the different Modernstats standards (GAMSO, GSBPM, GSIM, CSPA) work together. For example, as quality management and metadata management are currently included in both GSBPM and GAMSO, the review team is looking at how these two standards work together (see the Quality and Metadata discussion posts for more information).

The request for feedback on GSBPM and GSIM will be open until 29 September 2017. Please provide your feedback via email (therese.lalor@unece.org). All feedback will be considered by the GSBPM and GSIM review teams. It is planned that draft versions of the revised models will be circulated for comment in June 2018.
