The 2024 UNECE/SORS/CIS-STAT Workshop on Metadata Driven Statistical Production was hosted by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia (SORS) in Belgrade from 3 to 5 December 2024.

The meeting was organised as part of the UNECE Regular Programme for Technical Cooperation (RPTC) for 2024. It built on work developed under the High-Level Group for the Modernisation of Official Statistics and recommendations from Global Assessments and Sector Reviews conducted in EECCA countries.

The purpose of the workshop was to discuss the advantages of metadata driven statistical production. Participants shared experiences on implementing a metadata driven system and the advantages and how to overcome obstacles and issues on implementing it. The workshop included expert presentations and interactive discussion on strategies, best practices and their experiences as well as next steps.
