UNECE is developing and testing a survey module on violence against women, as part of a United Nations Development Account project on the eradication of violence against women.
The aim of the module is to enable countries to collect a minimum set of information to measure the prevalence of physical, sexual and intimate partner violence. This initiative emerged from discussions at the joint UNDAW/UNECE/UNSD Expert Group Meeting on Indicators to Measure Violence against Women (Geneva, 8-10 October 2007).
The proposed questionnaire and methodology were discussed at the first UNECE Expert Group Meeting on Measuring Violence against Women (Geneva, 28-30 September 2009) and the testing results in the second Expert Group Meeting (Geneva, 18-19 November 2010).
The module has been tested in different countries across the world. See Conclusions and Recommendations.
