Geospatial and Statistical Standards

18 May 2021 (17.00 to 18.00 Central European Time)

This coffee talk featured the following presentations, followed by an open discussion:

1) Global Statistical Geospatial Framework by Alex Mudabeti, Namibia Statistics Agency and Co-Chair of the UN Expert Group on the Integration of Statistical and Geospatial Information

The Global Statistical Geospatial Framework (https://unstats.un.org/unsd/statcom/51st-session/documents/The_GSGF-E.pdf) is a relatively new standard, that has been endorsed by both the geospatial and statistical communities at the global level. As co-chair of the group responsible for this Framework, Alex introduced it and informed about implementation activities and experiences so far.

2) Geospatial View of the GSBPM by InKyung Choi, United Nations Economic Commission for Europe

The Generic Statistical Business Process Model (GSBPM - https://statswiki.unece.org/display/GSBPM) has been a global standard for over 10 years, for defining and describing statistical production processes. Over the last year, a group of experts from national and international statistical organisations has been developing a companion document exploring how geospatial information can impact on the various stages of statistical production. InKyung summarised the results of this work.
