This paper, prepared by Piet Daas and Mark van der Loo, was presented at the April 2013 meeting of the UNECE expert group on the management of statistical information systems (MSIS).
It describes experiences, plans for the future and challenges identified by Statistics Netherlands. Examples are given of the use of traffic loop detection data, mobile telephone location data, and social media messages to produce statistics of use to an NSI.
