This paper, prepared by Giulio Barcaroli, Stefano De Francisci, Monica Scannapieco and Donato Summa, was presented at the April 2014 meeting of the UNECE expert group on the management of statistical information systems (MSIS).
The paper gives an overview of Big data technologies relevant for Official Statistics and provides a description and classification of IT issues arising from three projects undertaken at ISTAT.
