Training material title
The problem of identifying persons with disabilities – the importance of questionnaire design/ Трудности определения лиц с инвалидностью – важность структуры анкеты
Brief description and comments
Slides from a presentation given by Angela Me, formerly of UNECE, at a training workshop on Disability statistics for SPECA countries (full papers and presentations from the rest of the workshop can be found at http://www.unece.org/stats/documents/2006.12.health.html).
The presentation focuses on the challenge of how to measure a wider experience of disability through a limited number of questions. It discusses the nature of this challenge, considers a number of issues that need to be taken into account, and explores what constitutes a good survey instrument (validity, accuracy, reliability, precision). Some specific examples are given and the importance of context and data collection mode are considered.
