Training material title
Data and Metadata Management using DDI: A Business Perspective
Brief description and comments

Presentation slides from a tutorial given by Wendy Thomas and Marcel Hebing at the Fourth Annual European DDI User Conference. "Formalizing the process of data and metadata management has become increasingly important. The DDI metadata standard was designed to support metadata management from simple stand-alone studies to major statistical production systems. This workshop looked at at how DDI supports the data and metadata management process from a high level business perspective. Use cases covering different organizational structures and processes will be used to provide a checklist of options for introducing DDI into an organization."

The tutorial is in two parts.

Part I is an introduction to DDI (The Data Documentation Initiative), covering: overview, processes, the DDI standard, tools, codebook and lifecycle.

Part II treats advanced topics.
