The purpose of the workshop is to ensure that activities and initiatives are aligned with the implementation of a common strategy, avoiding duplication and maximising efficiency.[better understanding of use and benefits of international standards] It aims to:

• Promote the use of ModernStats and other internationally agreed statistical standards;
• To facilitate the sharing of ideas and plans for modernising statistical production by implementing these standards;
• To identify opportunities for international collaboration activities.

The workshop is primarily intended for staff of statistical organisations who are responsible for developing, implementing and promoting standards based modernisation of producing statistics. It includes all those using standards for the modernisation of statistical production such as methodologists working on cross-domain solutions, enterprise and information architects, those working on corporate IT solutions and subject-matter specialists.
