Modernisation of statistical production is a key priority for all statistical organisations, and the High Level Group for the Modernisation of Official Statistics (HLG-MOS) has set out a vision defining long-term goals and overseen development of models and standards to help to achieve them. However, there is a need to provide supporting materials to such organisations, which are relevant to their current stage on the road to modernisation, and where they want to get to. The MMM and its Roadmap should be useful to any organisation regardless of their level and acknowledges that within one statistical organisation there can be different maturity levels depending on the statistical domain or part of the organisation.
