Annex C Glossary
Atrtibute Component
Definition:
The role given to a Represented Variable in the context of a Data Structure. The role is to hold the pertinent information in addition to the identifiers and measures for a particular unit in a Data Set.
Explantatory text;
For example the publication status of an observation (e.g. provisional, final, revised), or information specific to the use of an Identifier in the context of a Data Set.
However, the UML figures clearly show that there are three different information objects: 1) Identifier Component, 2) Measure Component and 3) Attribute Component.
The Definition (ambiguous) and Explanatory text (wrong?) in Annex C seem to suggest that the Identifier is part of the Attribute Component.
Solution:
Rewrite both the definition and the explanatory text.
New Definition: help?
Possibly - The role given to a Represented Variable in the context of a Data Structure to hold anything that is not an identifier or a measure.
However that is a bad definition because it says what the Attribute Component is not, rather than what it is.
New Explanatory text:
For example the publication status of an observation (e.g. provisional, final, revised).

2/10: Jenny to provide a suggestion based on unit attribute definitions. Also Al's text on unit vs dimensional data might provide some examples.
To be discussed at the next meeting.
