Replacement text proposed for 5.6 Calculate Weights (from Quality Indicators group), so that more broadly applicable to non-survey data.

 

"This sub process creates weights for unit data records based on the methodology created in sub-process 2.5 (Design processing and analysis). In some situations, variables may need weighting for normalization purposes."

    Meeting 3 April: agreed NOT to remove the sentence "In the case of sample surveys, weights can be used to "gross-up" results to make them representative of the target population, or to adjust for non-response in total enumerations." as this is very typical use of weight and it would be good to have such example in the description. Rather, we should add example from non-survey data source (e.g. weighting scheme similar to survey data can also be used for scanning data) and start the sentence with "For example..." or "Examples include", etc. 

     Action: Deniz ÖZKAN to check if example from non-survey data can be added.
